The Branson Presidents’ day Family weekend is fast approaching. We discovered that we put the wrong zip code on the meal order. It should be 65810 and not 65808 (an old address). AS a result the post office has been kicking some of the letters back as undeliverable. If this has happened, you can resend it to 4807 S. Elizabeth, Springfield MO 65810, or you can email Mike Blackwell firstname.lastname@example.org and let him know how many meals you need and then pay after Sabbath ends.
On a brighter note the Grand Plaza Hotel is now full and we are taking reservations at the Branson Raddison Hotel at the same $50 per night price. You need to tell them that you are with the Church of God group.
The 24th edition of the Branson Presidents’ Day Family Weekend is just around the corner. This year promises to be bigger and even better than last year. This year we will call a new facility home. We will be at the Grand Plaza Hotel, instead of the Quality Inn on the Strip. This should be a big improvement. With 190 rooms, everyone will be able to stay at the same facility, and all of the seminars and most of the activities will be under the same roof (with no hills to climb in the cold).
The Quality Inn was no longer able to handle us. Last year we had almost 400 people in attendance from around the Midwest and South, and we expect even more this year. The room rate at the Grand Plaza Hotel is higher ($50 per night per room), but it is a bargain and well worth the price. (At the Quality Inn we were at $37 per night for over a dozen years and knew the rate was long overdue to increase.) The Grand Plaza has an indoor pool and exercise room, and it has plenty of meeting space for all our needs (including a singles’ fellowship table). The room rate includes the same hot breakfast every day, and we can have our opening evening reception and Sunday evening game night and pizza party as we have in the past.
The theme for the weekend comes from 2 Peter 1:8: “If these things be in you, and abound.” All nine seminars will be along this theme. Special guest speaker for Sabbath services will be Clyde Kilough, who will be accompanied by his wife, Dee. David and Becky Johnson from the office in Allen will also be present along with area pastors.
Sabbath services and the Saturday evening family dinner and activities will again be in the West Wing of the White House Theatre. Activities will include Sabbath services, a delicious barbecue dinner, a children’s carnival and a family dance. Sunday we will have an afternoon seminar, an afternoon activity and a visit to an area attraction. Sunday evening we will have a pizza party and game night. For those staying over for Monday, we will have tours of the Titanic Museum and another attraction. More details will be coming in a couple of weeks.
To make reservations for the hotel for the weekend, call the Grand Plaza at 417-336-6646 and tell them you are with the Church of God Presidents’ Day Weekend conference in February.
