Many who profess to follow God point to certain New Testament passages to support the belief that the distinction between clean and unclean meats has been abolished. Three of the most commonly cited scriptures—Mark 7:14–19, Acts 10:9–16, and Romans 14:14—do not abrogate the biblical distinction between clean and unclean meats but instead address other issues such as ritual defilement, the inclusion of the Gentiles, and matters of personal conscience.
