Jesus corrected His disciples at times for not knowing what manner of spirit they were demonstrating or being motivated by. We’re also instructed in 1 John 4:1 to test the spirits. Are we willing to test the spirits at work in us, to identify the source motivating our attitudes, actions, and perspectives?
