Our Response to Suffering

Is there value in suffering? Why does God allow it and how can Satan use it to achieve his ends? Christ stated very clearly in John 16:33 – “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” How should we approach suffering in our own lives . . . in the lives of others? Is it only a matter of endurance or is there something that God is trying to accomplish through it?
