There are profound insights to be gained by examining the topic of tears in the New Testament. The Greek word for tears is dakruŏn, which occurs 11 times in the New Testament. As in the Old Testament, God wants us to be empathetic and sympathetic toward others’ tears, as well as our own. The sermon expounds on this word through 10 themes or thematic causes for tears that God, ultimately, in His love for all mankind, shall wipe away.
