Expressing Thanks to God

In the United States, Thanksgiving has been overshadowed by retail marketing. It seems people are too busy to give thanks to God. Even nine of the ten lepers healed by Christ in Luke 17 didn't bother to express their thanks. How important is it to express our thanks to God?
