Who Has the Answers?
Written by Larry Murray
At a very difficult time in my life, I wasn’t looking for answers, but they found me.
Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, was a black day for me.
It was the day I finally bid my last company good-bye, after being retrenched. At my age (61), I knew there was no chance of obtaining another position with any company.
I settled down at home to do my sums, knowing that financially things would be very tight from then on. I began to do all the important things that I had been putting off for years (like composing a will, documenting where all my important papers were, etc.).
Not very religiously inclined
At that point, I was not very religiously inclined. My church was not very convincing in anything the leaders spoke about. They offered music and food, but no answers! So, eventually, I decided not to waste my time anymore.
Soon thereafter, while minding my own business and not looking for anything, I happened to notice an advertisement offering a religious booklet. It claimed to explain the purpose of my life—what God has planned for me.
I was very skeptical, but thought, Why not? I might as well see what it has to say. I took down the web address and downloaded a copy when I got home.
When I started reading the material, I found I couldn’t put it down! It had all the answers! It answered all the big questions I had that previous ministers were never able to answer!
Questions such as:
- What will happen to me when I die?
- Is this my only chance to come to Christ?
- What happens to someone who dies without hearing about Christ?
- What’s the point of obeying God’s laws if I am saved already?
- How is the world going to end?
- Why is the Bible so difficult to understand?
- Who and what is God?
- Do angels/evil spirits exist?
Have you ever asked yourself questions like these?
The answers the literature gave from the Bible were enlightening. It was like a light coming on in my head!
The best move
It wasn’t long before I realized that I needed to talk to others who knew, understood and believed these answers. So I started attending the Church of God. That was the best move I have ever made!
The first thing I thought when I entered the door was, “These people are incredibly friendly and helpful!” I have been there ever since. But I have never stopped learning! And God’s message becomes more and more exciting the more I learn.
What a privilege to have stumbled on this information! I had never been a “Bible thumper,” as I referred to people who studied the Scriptures. In reality, I hardly ever even opened the Bible; but now everything has changed.
A priceless instruction manual
Did you know that the Bible is really your instruction manual telling you the best way to live? Do you realize that it provides solutions to many of life’s problems?
Who says so? Well, I’ve proved to myself beyond a doubt that the Bible is the inspired Word of God (and you can prove it for yourself). So I’ve found that God Himself says so! The Bible is not only the world’s best seller. It’s a mine of priceless information!
Did you know that God has a plan for each and every one of us? The Bible will enable you to grasp the details of His plan and purpose for humanity.
The great God we serve is real. Prove it for yourself! He is now intervening powerfully in world affairs as has been prophesied in the Bible.
The true servants of the living God are spread around the earth. Jesus commissioned these people to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). That means preaching the true answers found in His Word!
Is God calling you?
The point is, I stumbled on all this because God put it in my path. Could it be He is now calling on you to learn more of the truth?
Why not explore our booklets The Mystery of the Kingdom and From Holidays to Holy Days: God’s Plan for You and use our Contact page if you have questions? You’ve got absolutely nothing to lose, and it just might be the best decision you ever made!
As Proverbs 3:6 tells us: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
