Is America Exceptional?

According to Webster’s Online Dictionary, exceptionalism is defined as being “different from the norm.”  But what makes America exceptional and what role did the faithfulness of Abraham and God’s covenant with him play in the establishment of a great nation and a great company of nations that are “different from the norm”?  To quote Abraham Lincoln: “We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power, but we have forgotten God!  This assessment of America is as true today as it was in 1863.
