The 1986 Challenger explosion serves as a warning about groupthink—when people ignore truth to maintain group harmony. Engineers had warned about risks, but pressure from NASA led to disaster. This reflects a deeper issue of social conformity, where people follow the crowd to gain acceptance. The Bible warns against this. Noah stood firm in a corrupt world and obeyed God. Caleb and Joshua trusted God’s promise when the other spies gave a fearful report, but the people chose to follow the majority—rejecting faith for safety. This same dynamic played out in 1995, when many in the Worldwide Church of God conformed to doctrinal changes, abandoning truth. Paul’s words in Romans 12:2 call us to resist such conformity and be transformed by renewing our minds. True faith, like Noah’s and Joshua’s, requires courage to stand apart, trust God, and live by His truth—even when it’s unpopular.
