The work to finish the second temple was within four years of completion when Haggai and Zechariah prophesied. In part they warned the Jews to return to God. Four hundred years later they had drifted dramatically further away from God. Christ gave them similar warnings, but they ignored him also. The result: a shell of the religion God had established at Sinai. These same warnings apply to us today.
