In Galatians 6:16, Paul pronounces a blessing of "peace and mercy" to a predominantly Gentile audience he referred to as the "Israel of God". This is the same blessing that was being pronounced to a predominantly Jewish audience in the synagogues. The term "Israel of God" previously referred to ancient Israel in the Old Testament. It is fascinating how scripture written centuries apart, specifically what happened to Old Testament Israel of God and New Testament Israel of God are related and, at the same time, have direct application to us today and shows where God dwells whether in the Tabernacle or the Temple or now.
