Walking in The Way of Darkness

The last Old Testament prophet, Malachi, prophesied about 400 years before Christ’s birth. The ensuing 400 years, from a biblical perspective, can be considered a “dark age.” The Jewish religion looked quite different when Christ arrived on the scene. What happened in that period? Why did Christ so strongly condemn the leaders of this newly reorganized Jewish religion? What was wrong with the Scribes, Sadducees, and Pharisees who seemed to be walking in the darkness?
