From Bedouins to Babylonians, from Hitites to Hellenists, from Mesopotamians to Moses himself, the ancients used salt in one way we do not. This message challenges us to hear “salt of the earth” not only in context of Jesus’ original sermon, but in context of Bible history. While drawing from archeology and science, this sermon examines salt through the principle of letting the Bible interpret itself. It’s fascinating to find the instruction God preserved about salt, about covenant, and our about identity and responsibility today.
