Why Baptism?

What made you decide to be baptized? Did your parents encourage you, were you following the example of your friends, was it simply “the thing to do”, since you grew up in the Church? What motivated you to get baptized and how did your life change as a result? What is the “history” of baptism in the Bible and why is it so important?
