"Hold fast” is a nautical term describing the firm grip a deck hand must have to hold the sail riggings during stormy seas. In like manner, the Church is encouraged to “hold fast” to the calling and truth we’ve been given…especially during the turbulent days in which we live.
There is an African proverb that says: “If you want to go fast go alone; if you want to go far go together.” This proverb identifies one of the most important principles of success. We all must be willing to submit to one another and work together in harmony. We can’t just be united against something. We must be united for something.
