The abundance and variety of ways that God addressed and addresses those who are discouraged or depressed, and even clinically depressed, is astounding. The Bible overflows with details and inspiration to education, encourage and uplift. Inspiration #1: God comforts the discouraged and depressed. Inspiration #2: God sends others to comfort and encourage us when discouraged or depressed.

Father’s Day only became completely official in this country in 1972, with a presidential proclamation and a signature. Mother’s Day goes all the way back to 1914! Why is it that godly qualities of true manhood and loving fatherhood are so challenging in our world?

We live in a very competitive world. From business, to beauty, to the playing field we see competition in our daily lives. Competition has some benefits like lower prices for the consumer but often the wrong spirit of competition can lead to anger, hatred and even violence. Where did this spirit originate? How dangerous is it for true Christians?

Paul told Timothy he had access to power, love and a sound mind—through God’s Spirit. There are many ways to describe that spiritual help, but one thing’s for sure—we need it all year long, not just on one annual festival.
