Jesus Christ said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” This statement speaks to what we value. What do we value most? What is important to us? What we value most is what we will cherish and protect. This message will explore three things that we must cherish and protect.

Psalm 139:7 asks, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” The answer, of course, is nowhere. But sometimes it seems as if some might say, “Social media! That’s a place where I can say virtually anything that I want—without being judged. There’s nothing like online freedom. And that’s where my real friends are.” Does the Bible govern every aspect of our lives—including the Internet? Does God “like” our online presence?

The Bible says a great deal about sobriety and not being affected by alcohol, but really the emphasis in the Bible is on being “sober-minded.” Please join us as we explore what this important quality is, why we need it, and how to develop it.

Why can’t we all just get along? Establishing and maintaining our personal relationships with others can be challenging, frustrating and even rewarding! However, for most of us, positive relationships don’t just happen. It takes a lot of work and effort to sustain and maintain them and reaches far beyond the scope of social media to accomplish. Are there some biblical principles that can help us improve the way we relate to one another?

Most young people who have grown up in the Church face the question of baptism. The majority say they will eventually be baptized, but may be pushing this decision off to some unknown point in the future. What are the common reasons for not being baptized? Do they hold water (pun intended!)? In this Bible study we will examine the topic of baptism—why it is vital to your salvation, the reasons often given for delaying baptism, and encouragement to forge ahead with your commitment to your Creator at the right time in your life. Join Dave Myers for this analysis of “Why I’m Not Baptized.”

The greatest of God’s creations is the human mind, which He tells us is modeled after His own mind. Instead of embedding instincts, God has given man intelligence, learning, emotions, will, character—all reflections of God’s own mind and distinct from anything in the animal world. In addition to all of that, He put in each of us a conscience—a silent voice that Paul says either accuses us or excuses us. What did he mean by that? Is conscience a blessing or a problem? And why is that silent voice sometimes so loud? Join us on Friday Night Live to explore what Scripture says about this uniquely human personal counselor.

“My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men who are set on fire, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.” What? Were memes and social media, politicians and commentators around back in David’s time too? People have always been snarky, negative and quick to find fault, but it seems that what David described 3,000 years ago in Psalm 57:4 is worse now than ever! The culture of criticism is insidious, eroding basic values of Christianity, and at times it has damaged our relationships as brothers and sisters. This study focuses on resisting this mind-set, because if we don’t counter it, we’ll get caught up in it.

What have your experiences in life netted you? While we cannot control every circumstance in our lives, we can control the general direction of our lives. But that is assuming one very important point—that we are learning from our experiences as opposed to merely experiencing life.
